President Orders Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Former Lawmaker





President Donald Trump today ordered flags nationwide to be flown at half-staff until sunset on Saturday, February 9, 2019, to honor the life of former RepresentativeJohn David Dingell, Jr. of Michigan. 

 

Dingell served in the United State House of Representatives from 1955 to 2015. According to the House historian's office, he served with 11 presidents and cast 28,551 votes. He is the longest serving member of Congress on record. 

 

Dingell passed away on February 8. He was 92 years old.
