DEADWOOD, S.D. – Crews have begun utility work on the city portion of a construction project taking place this summer on Highway 14A through Deadwood.

Work on the project includes city utility improvements, concrete pavement repair, milling and asphalt resurfacing, ADA curb ramp upgrades, storm sewer and traffic signals. The 1.42-mile project begins at Tin Lizzie and proceeds east to the Amish Furniture and Gifts store.

Traffic will be controlled with lane closures, two-way traffic conditions and concrete barriers when crews are doing utility work. Motorists should allow extra time for your commute and be prepared for suddenly slowing, stopped and merging traffic, as well as construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the Nov. 22, 2019.

The prime contractor on this $1.85 Million project is Simon Contractors of South Dakota, Inc. from Rapid City.
