Construction to close US281 within Stickney city limits
STICKNEY, S.D. – The portion of U.S. Highway 281 within the Stickney city limits will close to through traffic beginning Wednesday (August 15) so crews can reconstruct the highway.
Work includes removing existing surfacing, grading, and dirt work. Temporary gravel surfacing with an oil blotter will be applied until final surfacing is placed.
Access to residences and businesses adjacent to the project will be maintained. Access to the city of Stickney will be provided from SD42 North. The road is expected to reopen in mid-September.
Foothills Contracting Inc. from Webster is the prime contractor on the $7.5 million project.
