Highway 81 Construction Planned For Freeman Area

FREEMAN, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says a project on US Highway 81 from SD Highway 46 to Freeman will start the week of July 25, 2016.

Work includes removal of damaged concrete, replacement with asphalt, reconstruction of shoulders, and asphalt concrete overlay on US Highway 81.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane with flaggers and pilot cars during the construction work.  Motorists are advised there will be delays periodically during the project.

The prime contractor on this $7.1 million project is Spencer Quarries Inc. of Spencer.

The roadway is expected to be completed on Nov. 4, 2016.
