Campus and Community Representatives to Participate
in BHSU Presidential Search
RAPID CITY, S.D. – A group of 12 people will assist the South Dakota Board of Regents in its search for the next president of Black Hills State University, serving as campus and community representatives on the presidential search and screen committee.
“The valuable input we receive from these campus and community leaders is of great benefit to our presidential search process,” said Regent Kathryn Johnson, who will chair the search process at Black Hills State. Other regents serving on the search committee are Randy Morris, Terry Baloun, and Dean Krogman.
Named as campus and community representatives and the constituencies they represent are:
- Community-Dana Boke, mayor of Spearfish
- BHSU Foundation-Harvey Krautschun, president/owner of Financial Benefits Inc., Spearfish
- Alumni-Lori Caldwell, real estate and insurance agent, Real Estate Center, Spearfish
- Administration-Lois Flagstad, vice president for student life
- Career Service Employees-Dawn Kennedy, Registrar’s Office
- Non-Faculty Exempt Employees-Randy Culver, associate director of facilities
- Faculty-Don Altmyer, professor of accounting; Laura Colmenero-Chilberg, associate professor of sociology
- Students-Chase Vogel, junior business administration major and president of the BHSU Student Association, whose hometown is Cheyenne, Wyo.; Lorrin Anderson, junior corporate communications major and vice president of the BHSU Student Association, whose hometown is Winner
- Institutional Collaboration-James Abbott, president of the University of South Dakota
- Yellow Jacket Foundation-Chris Anderson, retired school administrator, Spearfish
Kay Schallenkamp, BHSU president since 2006, has announced she plans to retire from the South Dakota public higher education system at the end of the 2013-14 academic year.
