South Dakota State Fair Offers Mobility Options for Fairgoers
HURON, S.D. — The South Dakota State Fair is committed to making the fairgrounds accessible so all guests can enjoy their visit. Several mobility and transportation services are available throughout the event to support visitors with mobility needs.
PARKING OPTIONS
- Handicap Parking
- On-ground handicap parking is available at Gates 6 and 8 for $7/day, while supplies last.
- Advanced Sunflower Lot Bus Shuttle
- Free visitor parking is available at the Advanced Sunflower Lot (2000 Lincoln Ave. SW), southwest of the former Huron Mall. A continuous shuttle runs to Gate 3 Thursday–Sunday, 9 AM–11:15 PM, thanks to the Huron Chambers & Visitors Bureau.
- State Fair Free Parking Lots

- Parking Lots A & B are located directly south of Gate 1, on the south side of the State Fairgrounds.
- Parking Lot located on the corner of 7th St. and Nevada Ave. SW, approximately four blocks southeast of the fairgrounds from Gate 2.
- Lot H located approximately 3 blocks southwest of Gate 8. To enter this free lot, you must take 8th St. SW and turn right on Mellette Ave. SW.
ON-GROUNDS TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS
- Courtesy Carts
- Free courtesy carts are available Wednesday–Sunday, 8 AM–10:30 PM, and Labor Day, 8 AM–5 PM, to help guests get around the fairgrounds. This service is made possible by generous sponsors, including Huron Regional Medical Center, SD Wheat Commission, Jack’s Campers, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and their auxiliaries.
- Kibble Equipment Trolleys
- Free Kibble Equipment trolleys provide free transportation from point A to point B across the fairgrounds. Multiple trolley stops are located throughout the grounds, making it easy for visitors to board and ride. Trolley hours are 7 AM – 11 PM.
- Mobility Rentals
- Scooters, wheelchairs, strollers, and wagons are available for rent on-site. Advanced reservations are required by calling 888-441-7575 or online at https://scootaround.com/en/south-dakota-state-fair.
RESTROOM AND SELF CARE OPTIONS
- Momentum Refresh
- The South Dakota State Fair is proud to offer Momentum Refresh, the nation’s first universally designed, fully accessible mobile restroom and changing space. Features include an adult-size changing table, ceiling hoist, accessible toilet and sink, mobility lift, climate control, caregiver space, and attendant assistance.
- Available Wednesday–Sunday, 10 AM–8 PM, and Monday, 10 AM–3 PM, on the west side of the Expo Building.
- An open house is planned for Wednesday, September 2, 11 AM-12PM for fairgoers to take a tour of the mobile unit.
- Proudly brought to you by the SD State Fair Foundation, Huron Area Center for Independence, Red Wilk Construction, Wings Foundation, and the Gail and Delores Miller Foundation, an Affiliate Fund of the South Dakota Community Foundation.
- Other Restrooms
- The fairgrounds have several accessible restrooms and bathhouses throughout the fairgrounds, easily identifiable on the fairgrounds map located in the center of the event guide or you can find the map posted inside most admission gates.
