Gov. Rounds Appoints Chief of Staff

PIERRE, S.D.Gov. Mike Rounds announced today the appointment of Neil Fulton of Pierre as Chief of Staff.

Fulton is currently a partner at the May, Adam, Gerdes & Thompson Law Firm in Pierre.   His practice involves lobbying for numerous public and private entities and litigation with a focus on state and local government liability issues.

“Neil has the right combination of experience and enthusiasm,” said Gov. Rounds. “He is prepared to step into this very challenging position, having worked with our team in the past, serving as our legal counsel and as a registered lobbyist during the legislative session.”

“I am excited to work with Governor Rounds, helping the people of South Dakota,” said Fulton.   “I’m honored by the trust he’s put in me.”

Fulton, 36, is a native of Miller, S.D. He received his B.A. from Yale University in 1994, and attended law school at the University of Minnesota where he received his J.D., summa cum laude and was class valedictorian.

Fulton lives in Pierre with his wife, Molly, and their son, Cael. He’ll begin his duties as Chief of Staff in November.
