Lottery Adds Second Trip Prize to Power Bowl Sunday Promotion;
Promotion Ticket Makes Iroquois Woman State’s Biggest Power Play Winner
(Pierre) – South Dakota Lottery players now have two chances to win a trip to professional football’s championship game in Houston on February 1, 2004. The Lottery has added a second trip prize package to its current Power Bowl Sunday promotion.
"We’re really excited that we’ll be sending two South Dakota Lottery players and their guests to the biggest football event in the world, and sending them in style," said Clint Harris, executive director of the state lottery.
The Multi-State Lottery Association, which administers the Powerball game, acquired the trip packages for Powerball states to use as prizes in Powerball-related promotions. While the trip packages were originally allocated to the states, the association recently informed participating states that additional packages were available.
The South Dakota Lottery will award the two trip packages in a special drawing on December 5. Each package is a trip-for-two that includes round trip airfare, hotel, suite level seating in Reliant Stadium for the game, celebrity pre-game party, $500 spending cash, and commemorative leather jackets.
Harris said the prize packages were the biggest trip prizes the Lottery has ever offered. Each package is valued at more than $26,000.
The South Dakota Lottery began its Power Bowl Sunday promotion on October 1. Players who make a Powerball Power Play purchase of $10 or more receive an entry coupon attached to their ticket. The completed entry form must be sent to the Lottery to be included in the special drawing to win one of the trip packages.
Power Play is a feature of Powerball which allows players to pay an extra $1 per play to multiply their non-jackpot prizes up to five times.
Glenna Poulisse of Iroquois won $25,000 on her $10 Powerball Power Play purchase last week, making her the Lottery’s biggest Powerball Power Play winner to date. Poulisse purchased her "quick pick" ticket at Chekkers Fresh Start in Huron. She not only received an entry for the Power Bowl Sunday drawing, but turned her $5,000 win into $25,000 in the October 15 drawing. Poulisse matched four white numbers and the red Powerball number, and the Power Play multiplier was five.
The Power Bowl Sunday promotion runs through November 28 and entries must be received by the Lottery by December 3, 2003.
Information about the promotion can be found at Lottery retailers and on the Lottery’s website at www.sdlottery.org.
