Join the Fun at the Original South Dakota BBQ Championships
HURON, S.D. – The Original South Dakota BBQ Championships will be held in conjunction with Wheel Jam at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds on June 6-7. The event promises big flavor and fun for all ages.
The Kids Que is a hands-on opportunity for youth to fire up the grill and show off their BBQ skills. Open to younger BBQ enthusiasts, this competition spotlights ground beef as the main ingredient. The grill and beef will be provided.
For adults looking to test their BBQ skills, the Backyard BBQ People’s Choice is a competition designed for all skill levels and focuses on four meats: pork butt, brisket, turkey, and leg of lamb roast. Participants cook up their best and serve samples to the public, who vote for their favorites. The meats are provided to the teams courtesy of SD Pork Producers, SD Beef Council, C&C Cattle Company, TKS Haygrinding, Dakota Provisions, American Lamb Board, and SD Sheep Growers.
Lastly, don’t miss the F.A.T. (Friends, Appetite, and Thirst) Chili Challenge. This flavorful showdown is open to businesses, organizations, and individuals, giving everyone a chance to stir up their best batch of chili and compete for top honors.
The public is invited to join in the fun by sampling entries in both the Backyard BBQ and the F.A.T. Chili Challenge. Come taste your way through the competition and cast your vote for the best bites of the day!
