DOL Features Business Exposition and Job Fair at the State Fair

(HURON, SD) - The South Dakota State Fair is scheduled to kick off Saturday, Sept. 3, featuring South Dakota Department of Labor (DOL) Day.

Trained, professional staff from the DOL local offices will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Specialty Tent, located next to the Women’s Building, to assist businesses and job seekers.  

The job fair will feature some of the state’s employers, including Acrotech Midwest Inc., Angus Palm Industries, Applied Engineering, Avera McKennan, Dacotah Banks, Dakota Turkey Growers, Daktronics, South Dakota Bureau of Personnel, Desco Architectural, Enercept, Falcon Plastics, Fisback Financial Corp, Larson Manufacturing, Persona Inc., Prest Rack, Rainbow Play Systems, Terex Telelect, Twin City Fan, Verifications and Wells Fargo.  Fair-goers will be able to visit with employers about possible job opportunities with these companies.

“We are so excited to have the South Dakota Department of Labor as one of our day sponsors,” said Susan Hayward, manager of the State Fair.  “Our mission at the fair is to really focus on South Dakota.  Our partnership with the Department of Labor is a definite win-win situation.  We have fairgoers from across the state and from other states that will have the opportunity to visit with employers and learn more about exciting job opportunities  in South Dakota.”

DOL employment representatives will be available to discuss some of the related services such as worker recruitment, human resources, training, labor market information and labor law posting requirements.  They will also provide guidance about services available to the job seeker, including how to utilize the DOL website in their job search or locate their nearest South Dakota Career Center.
