PIERRE, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks (GFP), along with Oahe Tailrace, LLC, operator of Oahe Marina and Resort, announce that the Oahe Marina will not be open in 2018. 

“This has been a difficult decision to close the Marina,” stated Steve Rounds, operator of Oahe Marina. “The 2011 flood dealt a devastating blow that has been hard to overcome. The Pierre and Ft. Pierre communities have been great supporters of the Marina for years and I thank them for that.”

“This is an unfortunate situation,” stated Katie Ceroll, Director of the Division of Parks and Recreation. “We want residents and visitors to know that the Department remains committed to maintaining public access to the Missouri River at the marina. The closure has no impact on the three campgrounds managed by the Department, day use of the park or the boat ramp access points. The long term management objectives of the onsite resort facilities are yet to be determined.”

Rounds intends to hold an auction at the Marina on June 4, 2018.
