SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Starting Monday, July 25, the South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin a new phase of construction on Highway 17 through Lennox.
On Monday, Highway 17 will be closed from Boynton Avenue to the north city limits. This closure will last two weeks as the contractor completes all grading and storm sewer work in this section of road.
Highway 17 will be open to local traffic from Highway 44 to Second Avenue during this time, but will be maintained on a gravel surface.
Travelers coming from the north who need to access residences and businesses in Lennox will need to follow the posted detour route.
Travelers using Highway 17 should be aware of the road closure, the gravel surface and construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.
The project is anticipated to be completed by Oct. 1, 2016.
The prime contractor for the $3.5 million project is Sioux Falls Civil Constructors, Inc. of Sioux Falls.
