Head of Information and Telecommunications Leaving State Government
PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced today that Dom Bianco, commissioner of the state Bureau of Information and Telecommunications (BIT), is resigning from that position due to health and family issues.
The Governor said Bianco’s father had recently died, and his mother is not in good health. Bianco had been retired when the Governor asked him to accept the position last year.
“In this life, you only have some much time with your parents, and you should take full advantage of it,” Gov. Daugaard said. “I wish Dom the best. He has done a great job, and I’m sorry to lose him.”
Bianco’s last day will be March 30.
“This was not an easy decision,” Bianco said. “It has been a privilege, honor and highlight of my career to be a part of the Daugaard administration.”
The Governor said Jim Edman, BIT assistant commissioner, will serve as interim commissioner until a decision is made about Bianco’s replacement.
