Matt Michels Re-Elected To NLGA Leadership
PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Lt. Gov. Matt Michels has been re-elected to serve on the leadership committee of the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA).
NLGA is the professional association working with officeholders who are first in line of succession to governors in all 50 states and U.S. territories.
“It is an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to serve on the NLGA’s Executive Committee again,” said Lt. Gov. Michels. “Being a part of the committee has been a valuable experience, and as I continue in this position of leadership, I look forward to sharing South Dakota’s point of view with NLGA and learning about other states’ initiatives.”
Lt. Gov. Michels serves as Midwest Region Republican Representative on the NLGA Executive Committee and was first chosen to serve on the committee in 2011.
The leadership committee meets about three times a year and charts the course of issues and training to be pursued by the nation’s second-highest state officeholders. The committee also addresses issues of mutual concern to all members.
“Lt. Gov. Michels was nominated to this position by a bi-partisan group of his peers,” said NLGA Executive Director Julia Hurst. “His unanimous election among officials of both parties from every region of the country speaks to the high regard he is held in among his peers.”
NLGA is a bi-partisan organization promoting regional collaborations and problem solving for almost 50 years. Visit www.nlga.us for more information.
