Additional Pavement Repair Projects Scheduled to Begin in the Southern Black Hills

 

HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – Multiple pavement repair projects continue on various highways throughout the southern Black Hills. In conjunction with the current projects, additional pavement repair projects are also scheduled to begin on Monday, June 2, 2025. Motorists should be aware of planned lane closures for all projects listed.

 

Work will continue on U.S. Highway 18 at Edgemont and also one mile west of Maverick Junction. The Edgemont area repair project will be complete within two weeks. At the Edgemont location, flaggers and a pilot car will be used to guide travelers through the work zone. The Highway 18 project at Maverick Junction has a 16-foot width restriction in place and will be complete within four weeks.

 

Repair work begins on S.D. Highway 79 south of Hermosa. The Highway 79 project will shift traffic to one lane and a flagger will be used to guide motorists through the work zone. The project is anticipated to be complete in four weeks.

 

Repair work begins on Highway 18 south of Maverick Junction. The Highway 18 project will shift traffic to one lane and a flagger will be used to guide motorists through the work zone. The project is anticipated to be complete in four weeks.

 

Repair work begins on U.S. Highway 385 south of Custer to Wind Cave National Park’s north entrance. The Highway 385 project use a flagger and a pilot car to guide motorists through the work zone. The project is anticipated to be complete in four weeks.

 

Repair work begins on U.S. Highway 16 west of Keystone. The Highway 16 project will shift traffic to one lane with a flagger and pilot car to guide motorists through the work zone. The project is anticipated to be complete in four weeks.

 

Interstate Improvement, Inc. of Faribault, MN is the prime contractor on this $3.3 million project. The overall project completion date is July 2025.
