Clark County Fatal Crash

WHAT:  Two-vehicle crash

Where:  Intersection of U.S. Highway 212 and 428^th Avenue

              Six miles east of Clark, S.D.

When:   10:47 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2020

Driver No 1:  Female, 47, Fatal Injuries

Passenger: Male, 15, Serious Non-Life Threatening Injuries

Vehicle: 2007 Town and County Chrysler Van

Driver No. 2: Female, 24, No Injuries

Vehicle: 2016 International TR Semi Truck and Trailer

CLARK, S.D. – One person died and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred late Sunday night east of Clark.

Names of the three people involved in the crash are not being released pending notification of family members.  

A 2016 International TR Semi Truck and Trailer was making a left turn onto U.S. Highway 212 from 428^th Avenue to go east. A 2007 Town and Country Chrysler van, which was westbound on U.S. Highway 212, collided with the semi truck.

The 47-year-old female driver of the van had to be extricated and later died of her injuries at the Watertown hospital. She was wearing a seat belt.

A 15-year-old male passenger was taken to the Watertown hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The 24-year-old female driver of the semi truck was not injured. She was wearing a seat belt.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
