South Dakota State Fair Announces Little River Band, and Love and Theft

HURON, S.D.— South Dakota State Fair Manager Jerome Hertel announced today that Little River Band will perform with Cheap Trick on Sunday, Sept. 4, at the State Fair Grandstand in Huron.

Little River Band, considered to be one of Australia's most significant bands, has enjoyed worldwide album and CD sales that top 30 million. The group also set a record for having Top 10 hits for six consecutive years, being the first band to ever achieve that mark. The Little River Band was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards in 2004.

Little River Band hits include “Lonesome Loser,” “Help is on its Way,” “Night Owls,” “Take it Easy on Me,” and “Lady.”

Opening for Cheap Trick and the Little River Band will be South Dakota’s own Kory and the Fireflies.  Kory and the Fireflies create what's been described as "pop rock with punch". They've toured with Goo Goo Dolls, Sugar Ray, and Smash Mouth and supported more than 40 national acts, including Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock.  The band has also achieved airplay and video play in all 50 states with its nationally released singles, "Sometimes", "Pop Fly" and "Everyone."

Best known for the wide variety of entertainment it offers, the South Dakota State Fair also has arranged for Love and Theft to play a free show on the NorthWestern Energy Freedom Stage on Saturday, Sept. 3.  Love and Theft’s hits include Top-10 single “Runaway” and “Dancing in Circles.”

“We are pleased to be able to bring a nationally known country music group to the NorthWestern Energy Freedom Stage for fairgoers to enjoy,” Hertel said. The State Fair is all about value, so having a show of this caliber on the Freedom Stage definitely ups the value of the State Fair experience.”

The South Dakota State Fair announced earlier that Don Williams will play at the Grandstand on Friday, Sept. 2.  Cheap Trick will headline on Sunday, Sept. 4.  An announcement on the headliner for Saturday, Sept. 3 will be made in the near future.

Prices for the Grandstand entertainment have yet to be determined. Grandstand tickets will go on sale June 20. Friends of the Fair will have the opportunity to buy tickets on June 16. For more information on becoming a Friend of the Fair, visit www.sdstatefair.com
