Lane Closures and Detour Route in Place for S.D. Highway 13 Project Near Elkton

ELKTON, S.D. – Construction Work has begun on S.D. Highway 13 from the intersection of S.D. Highway 324 toward the city of Elkton. Work on the project will include shoulder widening, asphalt concrete resurfacing, pipe work, grading and structure replacement. Lane closures will be in place for the project during the day. Traffic will be guided through the work zone with flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should be prepared for delay through the work zone.

As part of this reconstruction project, Highway 13 is closed north of Elkton to U.S. Highway 14. A signed detour route is in place to guide traffic around the closed portion of Highway 13 using local roadways.

R and G Construction Co. of Marshall, MN is the prime contractor for this $8 million project The overall project completion date is Nov. 14, 2025.
