Boaters Can Find Ramp Access Along Entire Missouri River
PIERRE, S.D. – With water levels either rising or holding steady all along the Missouri River, Game, Fish and Parks officials say boaters will find excellent boat ramp access available on all four of the river’s reservoirs in South Dakota.
"Boating access on Lake Oahe was definitely effected in a positive way by the good moisture this spring," said Doug Hofer, director of the Division of Parks and Recreation. "In addition, ramps on the lower reservoirs have been operating under normal conditions, and boaters will continue to find great access at those ramps throughout the season."
Because of the recent moisture, more ramps are usable on Lake Oahe than the GFP expected at the beginning of the season. As of June 10, 17 boat ramps were open for use on Lake Oahe. According to Hofer, access sites on Lake Sharpe, Lake Francis Case and Lewis and Clark Lake did not suffer because of the low water and remained useable.
A daily report on the conditions of Lake Oahe boat ramps is available online at www.sdgfp.info/Parks by clicking on "Lake Oahe Boat Ramp Report" along the left side. Visitors to the website can also view maps of Lake Oahe that show the location of the ramps.
