Labor Department Offering Workforce Knowledge Session on Supporting Hiring Success

PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Labor and Regulation will host its next Workforce Knowledge Series session on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 11:30 a.m. CDT/10:30 a.m. MDT via Microsoft Teams.

Titled “Supporting Hiring Success: Utilizing WOTC and Federal Bonding Programs,” employers will learn how the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) and Federal Bonding Program can help their business save on hiring costs and reduce risk. This 30-minute session will cover eligibility, benefits, and how to get started.

WOTC is a federal tax credit available to businesses that hire individuals from groups who often face challenges finding suitable employment, such as veterans, people with disabilities, and others with significant barriers to employment.

The Federal Bonding program offers no-cost protection when hiring individuals whose backgrounds may pose barriers to employment. The bond covers the first six months of employment to protect employers against losses resulting from fraudulent or dishonest acts committed by a bonded employee.

Registration is required. Visit tinyurl.com/dlr-workshops and select the calendar listing for the event.

The Workforce Knowledge Series is an ongoing initiative by DLR to share expertise on employment topics, providing valuable tools and resources to help businesses address workforce recruitment, retention, and operational challenges.
