Gov. Rounds asks that all flags fly at half staff on Tuesday to honor former Rep. Dean W. Anderson
PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Mike Rounds asks that all flags in the state be flown at half staff on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. until sunset, in honor of former state Rep. Dean W. Anderson of Bryant, who died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009.
Rep. Anderson was elected to five terms in the South Dakota House of Representatives, serving from 1981-1989, when he was appointed as state executive director of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. He also served as South Dakota secretary of agriculture from 1995-1997.
"Dean Anderson was a well-respected legislator who served his district and the state very well in the South Dakota House,” Gov. Rounds said. “We are indebted to him for that service and for the time he spent as state secretary of agriculture."
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at 2 p.m. CDT in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at Bryant. Burial will be at WoodlawnCemetery.
