Highway 87 Construction Near Custer

CUSTER, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says a roadway improvement project on Highway 87 near Custer is set to begin today, Monday, Oct. 20, with the contractor closing the road around the Hood Tunnel for two miles.

The project includes roadway widening and roadway barrier construction and will remain closed until approximately June 12, 2015.

The prime contractor on the $3.4 million project is Zandstra Construction, Inc. of Rapid City. 

The completion date for the project is July 24, 2015.
