Champions Crowned at 2025 South Dakota Timed Event Championship During South Dakota State Fair

HURON, S.D. - The 2025 South Dakota Timed Event Championship, held August 30–31 during the South Dakota State Fair, showcased the Midwest’s finest youth rodeo talent in a thrilling two-day competition. With performances across multiple disciplines, the event drew crowds and celebrated the grit, skill, and sportsmanship of young rodeo athletes. 

 

“This championship continues to be a premier event for youth rodeo in the region. The level of talent, sportsmanship, and dedication we witnessed was inspiring. There is no better spot to highlight the sport of rodeo than at the South Dakota State Fair. We are thrilled to have supported this event for the past 16 years!” said Jason Edleman, South Dakota Timed Event Championship committee member. 

 

Aubrey Moody emerged as the All-Around Champion, demonstrating exceptional versatility and consistency across events. Koby Bowden and Jace Mousel earned Reserve Champion honors for their outstanding performances. 

 

Event champions included: 

  • Breakaway Roping: Clay Stevens;
  • Steer Wrestling: Treyvan Talsma;
  • Tie Down Calf Roping: Koby Bowden;
  • Goat Tying: Tierney Breen;
  • Barrel Racing: Adysyn Wiesner; and
  • Team Roping: Tanner Thorstenson & Hayes Burress. 

 

A special highlight was the Horse of the Championship award, which went to Jase Mousel for his mount, SIP Miss Flashy Sox, recognized for exceptional performance and partnership throughout the competition.
