PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Board of Economic Development approved funding for three projects through the SD Works Program and South Dakota Jobs Program. The projects support business expansion, rural business succession, and advanced manufacturing, while creating and retaining jobs across South Dakota.

“In South Dakota, we continue to support businesses that are investing, growing, and creating opportunities for people across our state,” said Governor Larry Rhoden. “These projects strengthen local communities, support good-paying jobs, and build a strong, diverse economy that is Open for Opportunity.”

The board approved a $300,000 SD Works loan for Chemistry Distilling to purchase and renovate an industrial facility in Rapid City. The facility will be used to manufacture and store high-purity ethanol and house equipment used in the company’s distilling operations.

Founded in 2024, Chemistry Distilling commercializes high-purity ethanol technology developed through years of engineering, research and pilot-scale operations. The company upgrades conventional fuel-grade ethanol into USP-grade and beverage-grade ethanol with exceptionally low impurity concentrations. The project is expected to create seven full-time positions over the next five years.

The board also approved a $90,000 SD Works loan for Dakota Evergreen, LLC to support the purchase of a chiropractic clinic in De Smet. The ownership transition will allow the clinic to continue serving patients, maintain four full-time positions, and preserve an essential healthcare service in the community. The clinic is the only chiropractic provider within a 35-mile radius of De Smet and serves patients from across South Dakota and neighboring states.

The board further approved a South Dakota Jobs Program grant of up to $91,199 for Innovative Materials & Processes, Inc. to support an expansion of its Rapid City facility. The project includes construction of a new building and the purchase of manufacturing and warehouse equipment to meet increased production orders.

For more than 25 years, Innovative Materials & Processes has supported U.S. Army and Navy programs through the research, development, prototyping, and manufacturing of energetic and pyrotechnic materials. The expansion is expected to add 18 to 24 new positions.

“South Dakota has a strong foundation in manufacturing, agriculture, and innovation, and we continue to advance opportunities that build on those strengths,” said GOED Commissioner Bill Even. “These projects demonstrate the impact of targeted economic development tools, from helping a rural business transition to its next generation of ownership to supporting advanced manufacturing and national security industries in South Dakota.”

The SD Works and South Dakota Jobs programs provide financing and incentives that support business growth, job creation, and private investment across South Dakota. Available to qualifying businesses that meet program requirements established in state law, these tools encourage investment that expands economic opportunity and supports long-term growth across the state.
