Gov. Rhoden Updates New Prison Plan’s FAQ Page

 

PIERRE, S.D. – Today, Governor Rhoden updated the Frequently Asked Questions page for the new prison plan. New questions were added, and others were adjusted to better reflect the questions asked of the Rhoden Administration by legislators. You can find the page here.

 

“South Dakota needs a new prison to keep our communities safe. I am grateful for the prison task force members who delivered a sound path forward and the legislators for their continued engagement and questions,” said Governor Larry Rhoden. “We have a good plan, a good site, and the money to pay for it. Now it is time to make the plan a reality.”

 

This week, Governor Rhoden released the full plan for a new prison. Following that release, the Governor hosted two teleconference meetings on Tuesday for state legislators to ask questions and gain clarity on various pieces of the proposed plan. Over 70 legislators participated in those teleconferences. Those discussions guided the updates that are seen in the FAQ page.
