BEGINNING OCT. 28, PHEASANT SHOOTING HOURS START AT 10 A.M.
PIERRE – Pheasant hunters can start earlier this Sunday, Oct. 28, when South Dakota’s start time for hunting pheasants moves back from noon to 10 a.m., Central Standard Time.
"South Dakotans note two significant events each year during the change to Central Standard Time, said Law Enforcement Specialist Dave McCrea. "People set the clock back, and pheasant hunters get extra time to hunt.
"The easiest way for hunters to remember this change is that it normally occurs when the clocks are turned back," he noted. "This year’s change occurs at 2 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 28."
"The shorter, fall days definitely shorten hunting hours," McCrea added. "By moving back the starting time to 10 a.m. when clocks are turned back, we can maintain an adequate shooting time for pheasant hunters."
