Name Released in Hughes County Fatal Crash

What: One-vehicle crash
Where: Fourth Street and Governors Drive, Pierre, S.D.

Driver: Kalle Jackson, 17, Pierre, S.D., Fatal
Vehicle: 1998 Chevy Lumina

PIERRE, S.D. – A Pierre female, identified as Kalle Jackson, 17, died early Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle crash in Pierre.

Jackson was driving a 1998 Chevy Lumina east on Fourth Street when she failed to negotiate a turn in the roadway at Governors Drive. The vehicle eventually hit a light pole.

The driver, who was the lone occupant in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol and the Pierre Police Department are conducting a joint investigation into the crash. Other agencies responding were Pierre Fire Rescue, AMR ambulance and the Stanley County Sheriff’s Office.

The Highway Patrol is part of the state Department of Public Safety.
