Search Process Begins for Next DSU President
MADISON, S.D. – The South Dakota Board of Regents is taking initial steps to begin the search for Dakota State University’s next president. It invites the public, especially those interested from the Madison community and DSU campus, to a meeting Thursday to learn more about the process.
Thursday’s meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. in room 203 of the Tunheim Classroom Building on the Dakota State University campus in Madison.
With the departure earlier this year of Douglas Knowlton, the regents will be selecting a new leader for the Madison-based campus. “One of the most important decisions the Board of Regents faces is the selection of chief executive officers,” said Regent Harvey Jewett, who will lead the search committee. Jewett said representatives of the campus and community have been nominated by their peers to assist in the presidential search process, and those individuals will be announced Thursday.
The search committee will consist of four regents, two students, two faculty members, one administrator, one non-faculty exempt employee, one career-service employee, one alumnus, one Dakota State University Foundation representative, one community representative, a member at-large, and a current president from the public university system.
At Thursday’s meeting in Madison, Jewett will introduce members of the search committee, explain the presidential search process and schedule, and answer questions about the process. “This invitation is extended campus and community wide in order to keep all interested parties advised of the latest developments within the search process,” Jewett said.
