Gov. Rhoden to Sign New Prison Bill

PIERRE, S.D. – Today, Governor Larry Rhoden will sign SB 2, which provides for the new prison in Sioux Falls.

The bill signing will take place in the Governor’s Office on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 7:45 pm CT/6:45 pm MT.

Following the bill signing, Governor Rhoden will also sign an Executive Order establishing the Correctional Rehabilitation Task Force, which will determine the best path forward for expanding rehabilitation services as the state plans for the new prison.
