MDS MANUFACTURING INC. CELEBRATES EXPANSION
PIERRE, S.D. – MDS MANUFACTURING INC. (MDS) will celebrate the expansion of its farm equipment manufacturing facility in Parkston, S.D. with an open house Saturday, September 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The public is invited to stop by for lunch, tours, and a brief program beginning at 11:30 a.m. The expansion will add 48 full-time positions by 2009 and more than 30,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, painting and office space.
“MDS MANUFACTURING INC. represents South Dakota’s entrepreneurial spirit. This family owned business shows what a strong work ethic and innovative thinking can accomplish,” said Richard Benda, secretary of the Department of Tourism and State Development.
MDS utilized $300,000 from the state’s Revolving Economic Development & Initiative (REDI) Fund to build the facility located at 1301 South SD Hwy 37.
The new manufacturing, fabrication and assembly area is designed to implement continuous flow manufacturing procedures to improve efficiency and increase production. The company will also purchase additional manufacturing equipment.
“We’re excited to make our service to the agricultural industry even better through this expansion,” said Steven J. Hohn, president of MDS MANUFACTURING INC. “Our increased capacity will allow us to improve our customer service and product delivery.”
The MDS product line includes the nationally known Sur-Lock Quik-Tach system, as well as a complete line of front end loader attachments. These high quality, super tough products include pallet fork systems, hay and material handling equipment, and several three point attachments. MDS also has a livestock division specific to the hog confinement industry which designs, fabricates and installs hog confinement equipment in turnkey facilities throughout the upper Midwest region.
