Pierre, SD — Two exceptional students from South Dakota have been named as U.S. Presidential Scholars. In September the U.S. Department of Education announced the full list of distinguished graduating high school seniors.
Bryn Marietta graduated from Rapid City Stevens High School in May. She is currently in the honors program at the University of South Dakota, majoring in Physiology, Cell and Molecular Biology – continuing her interest in the natural world.
Ernest Ting graduated from Brookings High School in May and is studying Information and Data Sciences at Caltech, where he will also compete in track and field.
Each year, the U.S. Department of Education announces the names of the Scholars to honor high school students for their outstanding academic, artistic, and technical accomplishments, as well as their meaningful contributions to their communities. Established by executive order of the President in 1964, this is one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students.
Congratulations Bryn and Ernest.
