Interstate 90 Fatal Crash
What: Two-vehicle fatal crash
When: Wednesday, July 21, 2010, 4:30 p.m.
Where: Interstate 90, two miles west of Interstate 29 junction
Driver 1: Sharon Adele Glawe, 61, Arlington, S.D., fatal
Passenger 1: Maxine Agnes Liebsch, 79, Arlington, S.D., serious non-life threatening injuries
Vehicle: 1994 Cadillac Deville
Driver 2: Rita Mae Nelson, 57, Montrose, S.D., minor injuries
Vehicle 2: 1994 Ford Explorer
SIOUX FALLS – An Arlington, S.D., woman died in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 90 west of the junction with Interstate 29 near Sioux Falls.
Sharon Adele Glawe, 61, was killed when she attempted to use a maintenance crossover to turn around on I-90. She turned her 1994 Cadillac Deville in front of a 1994 Ford Explorer driven by Rita Mae Nelson, 57, of Montrose, S.D. After the crash, both vehicles skidded into the center median.
Nelson suffered minor injuries in the crash. A passenger in the Glawe vehicle, Maxine Agnes Liebsch, 79, of Arlington, suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol investigated the crash. Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and Hartford Fire Department assisted.
