Today is Prostrollo Motors Day
HURON, S.D. – Friday, Aug. 29, is Prostrollo Motors Day. Make sure to stop by Prostrollo Motors on Highway 14 prior to the fair to pick up the Prostrollos Rockin’ Rollback coupon for $1 off gate admission at the State Fair. The other half of this coupon can be entered at the Prostrollo Building for a chance to win meet and greet passes to a grandstand event. Prostrollo Motors will be featuring the all new 2015 Chevy Tahoe, Suburban andColoradoon their famous display 20 feet above the ground.
The Royal White Tiger Exhibit sponsored by American Bank and Trust is open daily during the fair from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. CDT. Shows take place throughout the day and will be located just north of the AARP Centennial Stage.
SD Farmers Union will be hosting two debates on the NorthWestern Energy Freedom Stage today. The Gubernatorial Debate will be held at 10 a.m. CDT and the Senatorial Debate will be held at 12:30 p.m. CDT.
The Jacks Campers Chili Challenge is a long time favorite at the State Fair. People’s choice judging is free to all fairgoers and will start at 1 p.m. CDT in Horticulture Park. Stop by to sample chili from each competitor and vote for your favorite.
After filling up on chili, stick around Horticulture Park for the State Fair’s newest cook-off, the Pork Butt Battle. Free tastings for the People Choice Judging will begin at 3 p.m. CDT.
Preliminary competitions for South Dakota’s very own version of American Idol, Dacotah Star sponsored by Dacotah Bank, start at 5:30 p.m. CDT on the NorthWestern Energy Freedom Stage. Contestants compete in preliminary rounds Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Finalists will compete on Monday. The talent contest consists of three divisions; 18 and older, 12-17 years old and 5-11 years old.
Friday is also the start of concerts in the State Fair Grandstand. Legend Seeds welcomes ALABAMA with guest Chancey Williams and the Younger Brothers Band at 7 p.m. CDT.
Following the grandstand concert, The Rude Band will be playing in the Midway Roadhouse. TheBeerGardenwill be hosting Dustin Evans & the Good Times Band.
