SDDOT to Discuss Tea Interchange Project

SIOUX FALLS -- The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will hold a public meeting to discuss the upcoming Tea/I-29 Interchange project. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 at City Hall in Tea, 115 West 2nd Street.

Construction is set to begin on Thursday, March 24. Crews will reconstruct I-29 and County Road 106 one half mile in each direction of the Tea Interchange.  The current bridge over I-29 will be demolished and both County Road 106 and I-29 will be re-graded. When it's finished, County Road 106 will run under the interstate with new on and off ramps. SDDOT estimates the project will be finished in mid-November.

Traffic will be rerouted as needed during construction. Off-ramps from I-29 onto County Road 106 will be maintained as construction allows.  On-ramps from County Road 106 will be closed for the duration of the project.

Upper Plains Construction of Aberdeen is the prime contractor for the project.  SDDOT engineers and representatives from Upper Plains will be available at the meeting to discuss the various traffic changes throughout the project.

For more information about the project, contact Craig Smith at the DOT Sioux Falls Area Office at (605) 367-4970 ext. 2110.
