Cast Members Needed for Upcoming Disney Feature Film

Walt Disney Pictures casting director, Angelique Midthunder, will visit Rapid City and Pine Ridge this month to cast for the feature film, Hidalgo to be directed by Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III, October Sky).  Disney is looking for American Indians of all ages and young Caucasian men who look 18 to 40 to play 1890’s cavalry soldiers.

Two different open calls will take place Oct. 19 and 20.  Midthunder will be at the Alex Johnson Conference Center Oct. 19 and at the Sue Ann Big Crow Center in Pine Ridge Oct. 20.  Both calls start at noon.  The pay is $114 per day.

Hidalgo is the true story of Frank Hopkins, one of the most legendary long distance horse riders in the Old West.  Filming will take place in mid-November in the Rapid City and Hot Springs areas.  For more information, call toll free, 1-877-744-3261. 

The film office of the South Dakota Department of Tourism has worked with Disney on various aspects of Hidalgo’s production, including location scouting and publicizing this casting call.
