RAPID CITY, S.D. – Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, March 5, 2018, on West Chicago Street in Rapid City. Crews will be constructing median crossovers to be utilized in future phases of the project and installing a temporary span wire traffic signal at the intersection of West Chicago Street and Sturgis Road.
In April, reconstruction of the eastbound lanes will begin and traffic will be moved into the westbound lanes on West Chicago Street. An 11-foot width restriction on West Chicago Street and a 10-foot width restriction on Sturgis Road will be in effect. The speed limit on West Chicago Street will be reduced to 40 mph through the construction zone.
It is anticipated that work will begin on the westbound lanes in July.

All work is scheduled to be complete on June 28, 2019.
