Deadlines Approaching for South Dakota State Fair Open Class Entries 

HURON, S.D. – The deadline to enter open class exhibits at the 2025 South Dakota State Fair is quickly approaching! 

Each year, South Dakotans from all across the state bring their talents to the Fair through open class exhibits. With over 1,100 categories to choose from, ranging from canning and baking to photography, quilting, garden art, livestock, and the largest vegetable, there’s something for every hobbyist, maker, and livestock exhibitor. 

“The open class exhibits are a perfect place to showcase creativity and hard work,” said Peggy Besch, South Dakota State Fairgrounds Manager. “Whether it's beautifully sewn quilts, show-stopping vegetables, or eye-catching photography, there's a category for everyone.” 

Exhibitors are encouraged to enter online at www.sdstatefair.com, where they’ll also find exhibitor handbooks, rules, and full category listings.  

Important Dates: 

• July 31, 2025 – Static Entry Deadline;
• August 1, 2025 – Open Class Livestock Entry Deadline;
• August 11, 2025 – Open Class Sheep Entry Deadline;
• August 15, 2025 – Open Class Horticulture Entry Deadline; and
• August 22, 2025 – Draft Horse Entry Deadline.
