Redlin Art Center: A Gift to South Dakota
PIERRE, S.D. -- The Redlin Art Center in Watertown, S.D., has much to offer from a conservation park to the works of Terry Redlin, a local artist whose artistry has achieved excellence over the past 25 years.
"We invite travelers and visitors to stop in, take a break and relax while enjoying the works and beauty of the center and its surroundings," said Julie Ranum, Executive Director of the Redlin Art Center. "Over 150 of Terry Redlin’s original oil paintings hang in the building. We are located just off of Interstate 29, so our art gallery and park are a great location to visit before venturing on to other travels."
Terry Redlin's interest in out-of-doors themes can be traced to his childhood in Watertown. Few artists can rival the standards of excellence achieved by Master Artist Terry Redlin over the past 25 years. He is truly one of the country's most widely collected painters of wildlife and Americana. Even before it opened in June 1997, the center was named a Merit Award winner in the 1996 Build America Awards by the Associated General Contractors of America.
"The Redlin Art Center features more than an amazing collection of paintings," said Ranum. "We have two gift shops, an amphitheater and a Redlin-inspired log cabin. We host special events and traveling exhibits and are surrounded by a 30-acre conservation park with over a mile of walking trails, six picnic gazebos and the Redlin Pavilion. It truly is a beautiful and serene place."
The Redlin Art Center is Terry Redlin's gift to the State of South Dakota and all its visitors. Admission to the gallery is free and is open year round, with special hours during the summer and on holidays.
