Thursday, Oct. 6, 8 a.m. CDT, Pierre – Gov. Dennis Daugaard will speak at the Untapped Workforce: Hiring People with Disabilities Seminar at the Capital University Center Auditorium in Pierre.
Thursday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m. MDT, Belle Fourche – Gov. Dennis Daugaard will speak at the Belle Fourche Industrial & Rail Park – Rail Siding Grand Opening at 1125 Bonanza St., Belle Fourche.
Sunday, Oct. 2, 10 a.m. CDT, Watertown – The South Dakota National Guard will host a ceremony to rename its Watertown Readiness Center after a local man and retired brigadier general at 1951 N. Hwy. 20. The facility will be renamed in honor of Brig. Gen. Ernie Edwards, 81, for his years of dedicated service to the SDARNG, as an educator and for his civic work within the Watertown community. Planned speakers for the ceremony include Lt. Gov. Matt Michels, Maj. Gen. Tim Reisch, adjutant general of the SDNG, and retired Maj. Gen. A regents’ workshop on campus research initiatives is scheduled at 3 p.m. CDT Tuesday. Executive sessions begin Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and continue through 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Thursday, Oct. 6 – Friday, Oct. 7, Mobridge – Beginning Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. CDT, the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks’ Commission will meet at the Wrangler Inn in Mobridge. A public hearing will begin at 2 p.m. CDT discussing the finalizations of August’s meeting. The GFP Commission serves as the advocate and liaison between the department and its stakeholders - the people of South Dakota. The commission meets monthly (except for February and September) and consists of eight members who are appointed by the Governor for four-year terms.
