TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION AWARDS BIDS
PIERRE, SD – Governor Mike Rounds announced today the Transportation Commission awarded $36.7 million dollars in bids for upcoming road construction and maintenance projects. A total of 10 projects were included in the awards. Information on the largest contracts, including the type of project, location, low bid and contractor to perform the work are as follows:
Deuel and Hamlin Counties
Repaving 14 miles of the northbound lane of I-29 from north of SD 22 to north of SD 28. The $12 million contract was awarded to Progressive Contractors, Incorporated of St. Michael, MN.
Bon Homme County
Resurfacing 13 miles of SD 46 from SD 37 to SD 25. The $2.5 million contract was awarded to Spencer Quarries, Incorporated of Spencer, SD.
Resurfacing 14 miles of SD 50 from west of the SD 50/SD 37 junction to east of Tabor. The $3.6 million contract was awarded to Brower Construction Co. of Sioux City, IA.
Jones and Lyman Counties
Resurfacing 21 miles of I-90 and other work on the westbound lane west of Murdo and both lanes from Presho to Kennebec. The $14.6 million contract was awarded to Border States Paving, Inc. of Fargo, ND.
Lincoln County
Grading 6.5 miles of SD 11 from south of the Newton Hills Road to US 18 west of Canton. Also includes work on three box culverts and placement of a temporary surface. The $2.8 million contract was awarded to Loiseau Construction, Inc. of Flandreau, SD.
Butte, Meade and Perkins Counties
Asphalt surface treatment (chip seal) of US 85 from 10 miles north of Belle Fourche to 10 miles south of SD 168. The $1 million contract was awarded to Jensen Rock & Sand, Inc. of Mobridge, SD.
