Verifications Announces Second South Dakota Location

(Pierre) –  Just two years after it expanded from Minnesota to Watertown, Verifications is again expanding in South Dakota, this time to Aberdeen, Governor Bill Janklow announced today, June 22.

"Nothing promotes our business climate better than this type of in-state expansion," Janklow said. "For the last two years, this company has enjoyed the advantages of doing business in South Dakota. Verifications continues to expand in Watertown and felt it was a good time to open a second South Dakota facility," he said.

The company conducts pre-employment background screening investigations for clients throughout the United States and verifies the accuracy of information provided to employers by applicants. It plans to create at least 125 jobs in the next three years in Aberdeen and hopes to be operational within four months.

The Aberdeen Development Corporation is preparing for the company’s arrival by constructing a 40,000 square foot building. The company will lease 10,000 square feet in the new facility. Construction on the spec building is scheduled to begin in August, with the completion date slated for mid-2002. The company will lease space in the Aberdeen Smart Center until the new facility is finished.

Aberdeen Mayor Thomas Hopper agreed. "We think it’s wonderful that Aberdeen has been chosen. Economic development is a priority for Aberdeen and this area and we will continue to do all we can to continue to showcase Aberdeen and South Dakota," he said.
