DeRouchey Family Gives to “Go Hog Wild” Campaign

HURON, S.D. – The South Dakota State Fair Foundation is proud to recognize the Fred and Joan DeRouchey family for their generous $15,000 donation to the “Hog Wild for a Better Barn” fundraising campaign. Their contribution will help make meaningful upgrades to the hog barn, enhancing the experience for exhibitors and visitors.

“Youth are at the heart of the livestock community,” said Fred DeRouchey. “This project helps enhance a space where youth exhibitors can develop leadership skills and learn lessons that only hands-on agricultural experience can provide. Supporting this barn means investing in future leaders who will carry our agricultural traditions forward.”

Thanks to donors like the DeRouchey family, the “Hog Wild for a Better Barn” campaign is continuing to make progress toward improving facilities and strengthening the experience for youth exhibitors. The fundraising goal for the project is $240,000.

A variety of donor levels and recognition opportunities are available through the campaign, making it easy for individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to participate. Donors may also choose to spread pledge payments over two years, offering flexibility for those who wish to contribute over time. All donations are tax-deductible.
