PIERRE, S.D. Finding news has become easier than ever as the Governor’s Office of Economic Development has added RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds to its Web site, announced Kim Olson, Director, Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

“RSS is a wonderful tool for people who want to find all of their information in one place,” Olson said. “Not only does it save time, it simplifies the news-gathering process and will keep the public better informed about new developments in economic development throughout the state. It also provides us with a way to keep site selectors and business prospects up-to-date on what’s happening in South Dakota.”

To use RSS, users must first install news-reader software, or set up an account with an online reader. There are new versions of this type of service being released all the time, so users need to find one that will work with his or her computer and operating system.

Then, after an account has been set up, users may subscribe to a host of RSS feeds. The feeds might come from newspapers, TV news stations, blogs or any other Web site that uses RSS. Most RSS news readers have a search feature that will allow users to find the feeds he or she wants to subscribe to.

“By subscribing to our news feed directly, users will be able access the newest information as soon as it is released to the public,” Olson said.
