CYCC Superintendent Receives Corrections Award

(Pierre) - Doug Herrmann, Superintendent of the Custer Youth Corrections Center (CYCC), was named the Outstanding South Dakota Corrections Association (SDCA) Member Wednesday at a banquet in Rapid City.

The SDCA is a non-profit professional organization. The Outstanding SDCA Member award is awarded to a SDCA member who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of corrections in South Dakota.

Herrmann is responsible for the administration of CYCC, which includes the Living Center programs and Patrick Henry Brady Boot Camp for males and the EXCEL and QUEST programs for girls. He also oversees the Department of Corrections Foster Care program.

He grew up in Custer and is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Herrmann also earned a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration from the University of Nebraska-Omaha after playing professional football with the Washington Redskins for two seasons.

Herrmann has held numerous positions in the corrections system, including Counselor and Unit Manager at the Youth Forestry Camp near Custer, Assistant Superintendent of the State Training School in Plankinton and Executive Director of the Attention Center for Youth in Lincoln, Nebraska.
