Northern State University Men’s Basketball Top in Nation
(ABERDEEN, SD) NSU Men’s Basketball has been named the top in the nation for total attendance at men’s basketball home games in Division II.
The NCAA annual report states that the NSU Wolves Men’s Basketball team had a total of 54,529 fans during the 2004-05 season or an average of 3,408 per game. Virginia State led in average attendance with a 3,471 average attendance at each home game.
“We have some of the best fans anywhere,” said Patrick Schloss, NSU President. “Now the nation knows what we have known all along.”
The NSU Wolves are coached by Don Meyer who achieved his 800th win during the 2004-2005 season. Meyer now sits at 815 career wins, eighth all-time at the four-year level. He sits only 15 wins away from surpassing Clarence “Big House” Gaines (828) and Jim Phelan (830). Meyer is also only four games away from coaching in 1,100 games in his career.
The Wolves play at the Barnett Center located on the NSU campus. The Barnett Center can hold approximately 8,000 fans.
