Friday-Monday, February 22-25, Washington, D.C. – Gov. Mike Rounds will attend the National Governors Association Winter Meeting. For more information, contact Mitch Krebs, 773-3212.
 
Sunday, February 24, Sioux Falls, 11 a.m. (CST) - Freedom Salute Ceremony - Specialist Michael Fischer, Sioux Falls, will be honored for his service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom at a National Guard Freedom Salute ceremony at 11:00 a.m. (CST) at the local Army National Guard armory. Fischer, a member of the 1742nd Transportation Company, South Dakota Army National Guard, volunteered for deployment to Iraq and mobilized in January 2007 to support 1st Battalion, 185th Infantry Regiment, California Army National Guard. The unit was stationed at Camp Bucca, which is located in the vicinity Umm Qasr, and was assigned the mission of safeguarding and transporting enemy prisoners of war. Monday-Wednesday, February 25-27, Webster – Buddy Seiner, Outdoor Media and PR Representative with the Office of Tourism, will host five outdoor journalists on an ice fishing familiarization tour in northeast South Dakota. Writers will stay at Lynn Lake Lodge north of Webster, S.D., to enjoy a week of ice fishing on various northeast glacial lakes. Writers will be coming in from Iowa, Neb., and Wisc. Wednesday, February 27, Watertown, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (CST) - The Department of Labor’s Northeast Area Career Center will be holding a Job Search Assistance Program (JSAP) at 2001 9th Ave. SW, Ste. 200.  The JSAP is designed to assist and train job seekers on how to find and secure employment.  Some of the topics included are job search and retention skills, networking, the hidden job market, resumes, applications, and proper interview techniques.  It is provided at no charge and open to the public.
