TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION AWARDS BIDS

PIERRE, SD – Governor Mike Rounds announced the Transportation Commission awarded $53 million dollars in bids today for upcoming road construction and maintenance projects. A total of 15 projects were included in today’s awards. Information on the largest contracts, including the type of project, location, low bid and contractor to perform the work are as follows:

Minnehaha County

Building a new interchange on I-29 at Madison Street in Sioux Falls. Upper Plains Contracting, Inc. of Aberdeen, SD was awarded the $19 million project.

Lyman County

Constructing 11 miles of two-lane highway to US 83 between the Stanley County line and nine miles north of I-90. A-G-E Corporation of Ft. Pierre, SD was awarded the $3 million contract.

Lincoln County

Resurfacing both lanes of I-29 between the Beresford and Canton exits. Brower Construction Co. of Sioux City, IA was awarded the $4 million contract.

Meade and Pennington Counties

Grading and replacing various sections of I-90 between Black Hawk and Rapid City, including work on three bridges. Stanley J. Johnsen of Rapid City, SD was awarded the $9.8 million contract.

Day County

Paving and surfacing 15 miles of US 12 between Bristol and Rush Lake. Upper Plains Contracting Inc. of Aberdeen, SD was awarded the $7.5 million contract.

Potter County

Surfacing 16 miles of US 83 between US 212 and the Walworth County line. Border States Paving Inc. of Fargo, ND was awarded the $2.9 million contract.

Butte and Harding Counties

Resurfacing 22 miles of US 85 between the Butte/Harding County line and the Moreau River. Border States Paving Inc, of Fargo, ND was awarded the $1.9 million contract.

Douglas County

Milling and resurfacing 8 miles of US 281 between Armour and SD 44. Spencer Quarries Inc. of Mitchell, SD was awarded the $1.7 million contract.

Spink County

Milling and resurfacing 13 miles of SD 37 between Verdon and Turton. W. Hodgman and Sons Inc. of Fairmont, MN was awarded the $2.2 million contract.
