PLATTE, CHAMBERLAIN TO HOST GFP BOAT RAMP STUDY MEETINGS
PIERRE - Platte and Chamberlain will host the second pair of public meetings regarding a Missouri River boat ramp study prepared by the South Dakota Dept. of Game, Fish and Parks.
The public meeting in Platte will be held at the Kings Inn banquet room on Wednesday, Nov. 6, while the Chamberlain meeting will take place at American Creek Marina and Restaurant on Thursday, Nov. 7. Both meetings begin at 7 p.m.
Through the public meetings, interested individuals can review the boat ramp study and meet with advisory group members and Game, Fish and Parks staff. At the Platte and Chamberlain meetings, GFP fisheries staff will also give a presentation on the fishery forecast for Lake Francis Case.
Pierre will host the final meeting at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20. The location is yet to be determined.
A 13-member advisory group, organized by Gov. Bill Janklow and chaired by state Rep. Mike Broderick and Sen. Jim Hutmacher, is seeking public input on the proposed improvements and will make recommendations regarding project ranking and funding priorities.
The boat ramp study assessed existing conditions and recommends changes to improve boating access during extreme low and high water period.
For additional information on the study proposals, a review on the boat ramp study is available on the Internet at www.state.sd.us/gfp/MoRamps. Individual comments on the proposal can be submitted through the website.
