CPT Aaron Schultz Wins 2001 Bilo Support Forward Award

SIOUX FALLS - CPT AARON C. SCHULTZ is the 2001 Brigadier General William C. Bilo "Support Forward" Award winner. The "Support Forward" Award was established to serve as a means of recognizing junior leaders from the active Army and Army National Guard for outstanding contributions to the Army artillery community.

Cpt. Schultz, son of former Flandreau residents Russell and Connie Schultz, is Commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Service Battery, 1st Battalion 147th Field Artillery (MLRS). Cpt. Schultz played a pivotal role as the 1/147th Battalion converted from "cannon artillery" to the ultra-modern Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS). During the conversion to MLRS, Cpt. Schultz tirelessly prepared his units for the intense training requirements.

Cpt. Schultz joined the South Dakota National Guard in 1987 and served with the 1742nd Transportation Company during Operation Desert Storm. He received his officer commission in 1994 as a graduate of the Officer Candidate School at Fort Meade, SD.

Cpt. Schultz currently serves as the full-time training officer for 1st Battalion, 147th Field Artillery in Sioux Falls.
