Gov. Rounds Announces Gateway Expansion in North Sioux City
PIERRE, S.D. – Gov. Mike Rounds today announced that Gateway Inc., the nation's third largest PC company, selected North Sioux City, S.D. as the location for its new technical support center. First-year employment in the facility is expected to grow to more than 130 people, adding to the more than 1,000 employees Gateway Inc. currently employs in the community. The center will be fully functional in the third quarter of 2006.
“We are pleased that Gateway has chosen South Dakota for its most recent expansion,” said Gov. Rounds. “Companies like Gateway are experiencing first hand that when they do business in South Dakota, they have access to the most dedicated, prepared workers in the world and a business climate that maximizes profits.”
“We want to thank Governor Rounds and state and local officials in South Dakota for working with us on this important project,” said Rick Snyder, Gateway’s chairman and interim chief executive officer. “Since 1985, we’ve worked closely with many great leaders in the region and are delighted to once again tap into the highly qualified Siouxland workforce as we grow.”
“In a return to our roots, Gateway is once again taking an innovative approach to customer service and differentiating itself from the competition with a common sense strategy that will meet customer demands,” said Snyder. “While our competitors continue to go off-shore to save service costs, Gateway is renewing its commitment to quality through investment in experienced, well-trained and dedicated support agents.”
In addition to the state of South Dakota, the City of North Sioux City and the Siouxland Initiative were key partners in attracting this important project.
